Account Selection and Sort Criteria

Account Selection and Sort Criteria is a pop-up (or response) window that provides the user with various options for both selecting an account and setting the sort sequence to be used when searching through accounts using the previous and next arrows.

The “Grid Selection Option option provides an alternate method for searching for an account. This option displays all accounts in a “grid” format and allows the user to sort the list of accounts by:

Ø      Account Number

Ø      Street (i.e. the Service Location streets)

Ø      Block (Lot and Qualifier)

Ø      Billing Name (Last Name, First Name)

Ø      Owner Name (Last Name, First Name)

In addition to the “sort” options listed above, you can also use the Search Text field to force the display to scroll to the street, name, block, etc. that you are looking for. As you type in this field, the display will scroll based on the letter (and/or number) you just typed. The system will “beep” if you type a character that does NOT have a matching entry under the sort option currently selected.

Each column within the “grid” can be resized by the user. The grid also allows for horizontal “split-screen” scrolling in addition to the standard horizontal and vertical scrolling. Split-Screen scrolling allows the user to divide the grid display into two identical displays, and provides the ability to scroll each display horizontally (yet independently) while the vertical scroll keeps each of the two displays in “sync” with each other.

In order to use the split-screen capability, you must place the mouse cursor over the black bar at the far left of the horizontal scroll bar. When the cursor icon changes, hold down the left mouse button and drag the “splitter” line to the right. When you release the left mouse button, the display will be split at that spot. Note that you can always reposition the “split location” at any time.

An additional option with the “grid selection” method of account selection is to limit the display to “open” accounts ONLY. That is, “closed” accounts will only be displayed if you check off the “Include Closed Accounts” option.
